If you were a piece of furniture what would you be and why?
A huge farmhouse table— because everything good happens around a big table with good food and friends. It gets better with age and it’s the most unfussy piece of furniture there is and it looks great all the time.
Heidi spent her early years traveling all over the globe and taking classes in a wide variety of subjects from International Public Health to Chinese Medicine. It was only after years of devouring design magazines that she realized her true calling-interior design. After taking classes at UC Berkeley, she started The Rustic Modernist, a blog where she shares her daily design inspirations. Heidi has worked at several residential interior design firms in the Bay Area but is an entrepreneur at heart and realized very early on that going out on her own was the only option. She enjoys working with her clients to create spaces that reflect their needs and personalities. There is nothing she loves more than clean, classic lines mixed with rustic details. She likes to bring global influences into her decorating as a result of her travels and someday dreams of wandering the souks in Morocco scouring them for things to bring home for her clients. In the spare minutes she has when her head isn't buried deep in a design project, Heidi likes to hang out with her dog and her husband in their sunny apartment or scour the city for the best new places to eat and drink.
